Worcester Park Wedding Dress Alterations – Stella York Bridal Expert

For this bride, Worcester Park bridal alterations meant a visit to my private studio in Sutton to have her beautiful Stella York 8055 wedding dress expertly fitted. I took the dress in by 12cm, shortened all layers, added bust support and cups, and created a three-point American bustle. A final steam press completed the wedding-day preparation.
The bride bought her Stella York 8055 wedding dress at Aurora Bride in North Cheam and was recommended my services for her bridal alterations at my private studio in Sutton. The gown has a wonderfully soft and romantic look, with delicate straps, a structured semi-sheer bodice, floral fabric and a flowing skirt extending into a beautiful train.

Although the bride had found the perfect dress, it needed significant alterations to achieve the close, supportive fit she wanted for her wedding day.

Worcester Park Bridal Alterations | Taking the Stella York 8055 In by 12cm
The dress needed to be taken in by approximately 12cm through the fit of the gown.

With a structured wedding dress, taking this amount out requires careful reshaping rather than simply making the seams smaller.
The bodice construction, boning, sheer sections and floral outer fabric all needed to remain balanced so that the dress still looked as though it had originally been made to the bride’s measurements.

Once completed, the bodice followed her figure much more closely while retaining the original proportions of the Stella York design.

Worcester Park Bridal Alterations | Adding Bust Cups and Additional Support
I also added new bust cups and additional internal bust support.
The aim was to give the bride more security and shape through the bust while keeping the outside of the bodice soft and natural.

Good internal support is particularly important with delicate straps and semi-sheer bodices because the structure needs to work from inside the dress without looking heavy from the outside.
Worcester Park Bridal Alterations | Shortening All the Layers
The Stella York gown also needed to be shortened through all of its layers.

Each layer was adjusted individually so that the finished hem sat correctly with the bride’s wedding shoes while maintaining the soft movement of the skirt.
The floral outer layer needed particular care so that the finished hem remained even and natural.
Worcester Park Bridal Alterations | Creating a 3-Point American Bustle
The gown had a beautiful train, but the bride also needed to be able to move comfortably once the ceremony and photographs were over.

I created a three-point American bustle, lifting the train at three carefully positioned points.
Using several bustle points distributes the fabric more evenly and helps preserve the shape of the skirt instead of gathering the entire train into one heavy point.

The wedding photographs show the bride enjoying the reception and dancing comfortably in her dress.
Final Professional Steam Pressing

Once the alterations were complete, I professionally steam pressed the wedding dress so that the bodice, floral skirt and train were beautifully presented for the wedding day.
It is always lovely to see the professional wedding photographs afterwards, particularly when a dress has required this amount of alteration.
The finished Stella York 8055 fitted closely through the bodice, provided the bride with the support she needed and still retained the light, romantic movement that made her choose the gown in the first place.

Stella York 8055 Alterations Completed
- Dress taken in by approximately 12cm
- All layers shortened
- Bust cups added
- Additional internal bust support created
- 3-point American bustle fitted
- Wedding dress professionally steam pressed
