Mother of the Bride Alterations Worcester Park – Veromia Dress.
Bridal alterations are not always limited to the wedding dress. Veromia Occasion Wear Alterations were needed for this beautiful Occasions by Veromia V00959 dress, worn by the mother of my Stella York 8055 dressWorcester Park bride. The Aqua/Navy occasion dress required detailed alterations through the bodice, shoulders and sleeves to create a more balanced, comfortable and flattering fit for the wedding day.
The dress already had an elegant shape and striking navy floral design, but several areas needed adjusting so that the upper body fitted correctly and the dress sat comfortably for the wedding day.
Taking the Veromia Dress In Through the Centre-Back Zip
The bodice needed to be reduced, so I took the dress in through the centre-back zip from the top of the dress down to the waist.
Working through a centre-back zip allows the bodice to be reshaped while keeping the overall design balanced.
The zip and internal construction had to be carefully opened, adjusted and rebuilt so that the finished alteration remained neat and looked original to the dress.
Veromia Occasion Wear Alterations | Lifting the Shoulders
The shoulders also needed to be lifted.
This helped improve the position of the neckline and brought the upper bodice into a better position on the body.
A shoulder alteration can affect several other parts of a garment, particularly when sleeves are involved, so it was important that the dress was reconstructed rather than simply shortened at the shoulder.
Veromia Occasion Wear Alterations | Resetting the Sleeve Heads
Once the shoulders had been lifted, the existing sleeve position was no longer correct.
I therefore removed and reset the sleeve heads into the new shoulder position.
This allowed the sleeves to sit smoothly again and maintained the proper shape across the shoulders and upper arms.
It is one of those alterations that can look simple from the outside, but the internal construction has to be carefully reworked for the finished dress to sit naturally.
Veromia Occasion Wear Alterations | Replacing the Bust Pads
I also replaced the original bust pads.
Changing the pads helped improve the shape and support through the bust and complemented the alterations made through the centre back and shoulders.
The finished result was a much more balanced fit through the entire upper body.

- Dress taken in through the centre-back zip from the top to the waist
- Shoulders lifted
- Sleeve heads removed and reset into the new shoulder position
- Bust pads replaced
- Bodice reshaped for an improved overall fit
