This bride travelled from Reigate to my Sutton, Surrey studio after being recommended by Lucinda’s in Purley, a long-established mother-of-the-bride specialist where I worked for over 15 years, for specialist bridal alterations on her ball gown wedding dress. It was quite a transformation . The hem was multiple layered and there were quite a few bespoke elements to the dress that my bride really wanted.

The Dress Transformation
Her gown was beautifully simple, which created the perfect foundation for a refined, bespoke transformation.
We introduced:
- Structured straps for support and elegance
- A statement bow at the back for softness and balance
- A defined band to enhance the silhouette
Each element was carefully designed to feel as though it had always belonged to the dress — seamless, intentional, and completely personal.
✨ The Veil Restoration
Alongside the dress, she brought something incredibly special — a delicate 40-year-old veil.
Vintage pieces like this require a very considered approach. The veil was:
- Carefully cleaned
- Professionally steamed
- Restored with precision to preserve its softness and structure
Seeing it come back to life, looking almost brand new again, was a moment in itself.
Both the bride and her mum were genuinely surprised to see the scalloped edge regain its definition so beautifully — refined, crisp, and true to its original character.
When it first arrived, it was extremely delicate and heavily scrunched, requiring a meticulous and highly controlled restoration process
