Oro ( Wednesday 18th October 2023) : Zen is a life saver. I had a customised dress made. It was delivered to the UK about 1 month to my wedding and it was a disaster. I found Tailoring am Alterations via a google search and hoped. Zen kindly sqeezed in a first appointment with me last minute. She was sweet, funny, and honest. Her experience was obvious from the first meeting, even though I had brought her a dress that was far from the typical store bought options. My dress needed more than a hem,tuck and sleeve. It needed calculations and a massive revamp. Zen was upfront about what was achievable and the potential cost. We had 2 fittings after and with each one my spirits soared. I got so mamy compliments on my wedding day. The dress was simply stunning. Thank you Zen!

I visited zen twice and she is a total perfectionist! She is so passionate about her work and wouldn’t let me leave until the dress was absolutely perfect – even down to the tiny details that i couldn’t even see myself! After purchasing my bridesmaids dresses it was without a doubt that I also went with Zen to alter the length for them both! My dress was quite ill fitting to start with and required a lot of work to fit me perfectly. Zen worked very hard, organised several appointments with me to get it just right making sure that I was completely satisfied. Zen…what can I say?!She is such a lovely lady and made me feel so comfortable.She isn’t afraid to tell you her opinion,which I found really helpful as sometimes what you think you really want doesn’t always suit.Be open minded but if there is something you really want just say!I found Zen through a friend.I was in a pickle with short turnaround times on my dress and top to be made from scratch.With her background ,I think Zen was perfect for the job as the dress was small fry for her talent!The dress and top turned out just how I wanted.Advice for brides,ensure you leave enough time for fittings and tweaks.You and Zen will both want it perfect!

Zen was fantastic, great service always with a smile and very realistic about what could be achieved. The dress I had altered was for a friends wedding which was very important, I was apprehensive having not used her before but can honestly say she surpassed all expectations when I went for my final fitting. Sleeves were added, Swarovski crystal embellishment added and a high round neck was made into a sweeping v neck…not an easy job, but no one would have known, as it looked perfect!! Lots of compliments and now I have a 1 off piece, couldn’t be more pleased, thanks again!

Zen is just fabulous! I found her alteration service via Facebook and am so, so pleased I chose her. I’m quite body conscious and I was dreading being prodded and poked at. Zen put me at ease and made the whole process an absolute pleasure, it became a chat with a lovely lady with a bit of pinning involved. The alterations were fantastic and my dress fitted perfectly. She spotted all kinds of fitting issues that I would never have noticed and sorted out a way to adjust my train so I could move about after the ceremony. My dress looked even better after she had altered it and I felt fantastic on the day. I can not thank her enough.

I brought my wedding dress to Zenub with major alterations needed such as more material added to the bust, several layers of the dress removed and the dress shortened. Due to the material of the dress even the shortening of the dress was a difficult job. But Zenub managed to transform the dress to fit me perfectly and has made the dress look like a different dress. She was very friendly and accommodating and managed to fit me in for an appointment fairly quickly to sort the dress out. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending her to anyone who needs alterations for their wedding dress. She has done a fantastic job.

Zen was amazing from the start. She transformed the top of my wedding dress from simple straps to lace ones going into a V-back and made the dress fit like a glove adding extra support too. I bought a wedding dress on sale in South Africa, back in January last year, a couple of sizes too big. It\’s a beautiful strapless corset bodiced A-line Charmeuse (I think) dress with lots of clever pleating and pretty beads and a gorgeous train. Being a larger lady and preferring to flatter my shape as much as possible (y\’know, accentuate the good, downplay the bad), I rarely, if ever, get my shoulders and, more particularly, my arms out so a cover of some description was an absolute necessity. I managed to source a couple of boleros in slightly differing styles online, and they, fortunately, had same lace pattern embroidered on them and were identical shades (unbeknownst to me until they arrived! Result!), but they were made in Chinese sizes and I couldn\’t get my arms into them for love nor money! I popped into my local bridal shop (Toni\’s Bridal, Hackbridge) and asked them if they knew of anyone they could recommend for the alterations I needed. They directed me to Zenub and boy am I glad they did. We got along wonderfully, as though we\’d known each other for years, right from the beginning. I felt completely at ease with her and thought nothing of stripping off to try on the dress in front of her (admittedly, I\’m not all that shy really!), exposing all the lumps and bumps and not feeling one iota of judgement from her, bless her! She has such a lovely nature, she\’s gentle, so accommodating and knowledgeable on all sorts of sewing, fabric and craft related things (a wonderful artist too, her hand painted silk scarves are absolutely gorgeous and I\’ve seen one beautiful watercolour she did too!) and truly was a pleasure to be around. No job too big or small, she won\’t waste your time or money if she feels you\’re not going to benefit from something (I originally asked if she\’d make the zipped back into a laced corset back, she said she could, but would lose a lot of the fabric, would cost a lot and that the overall effect simply wouldn\’t really be worth it, especially when I mentioned that my long hair would be loose – a less scrupulous seamstress probably could\’ve gone ahead and helped me spend my money, but she didn\’t, she was open and honest about it). I felt the price she charged for the time and quality of work she put in was very fair. The steel boned corset of the bodice needed taking in 4 inches, while working around pleats and beads, she added ribbons to bustle the train and created very subtle panels into the sleeves, under arm, of the bolero using the fabric from one of them onto the more flattering shape bolero of the two and then painstakingly unpicked and restitched the lace / embroidery onto those panels so that it all became practically seamless. I was concerned that I\’d constantly be adjusting the bolero back up onto my shoulders all the time as it was a little prone to sliding back, so she also, after making sure I wasn\’t wanting to take the bolero off later in the evening, stitched in hooks and almost invisible loops so that I could fix the bolero to the dress. They were so perfectly hidden that my mother and 3 bridesmaids all had a hard time trying to find them when they were helping me dress! On top of all her hard work, she steamed the dress, bolero and my veil and advised me how best to hang it all to make sure it didn\’t get all creased again. Every effort was made to make me feel welcome and at ease, she even gave me a lift to a more convenient spot for me to get public transport whenever she could. Whenever her lovely husband was home he was always on hand to offer me a coffee when I arrived (he, too, is a fantastic artist, by the way … if you ever go to their home workshop, take a look at the massive oil / acrylic painting of two magnificent tigers he painted! Simply wow!) – such a talented couple! I will be taking all future alterations to her in the future, no doubt there. I can\’t recommend her enough! Ok, I\’ve rambled enough, but seriously, she\’s wonderful!

Zen altered my wedding dress back in `May and I couldn\’t have asked for a better experience. Zen was so lovely and positive for each fitting and nothing was out of the question. She was so geneours with her time when I had only a couple of weeks before the big day. Not only did she alter my dress in time but she helped with the mother of the bride and bridesmaid dresses which all needed their own adjustments. Had some sleeves altered as they were a little tight. I cannot recommended Zen enough. She is very flexible with time and her work is impeccable. I have had several expensive dresses altered, some to fit better and some to change the design on the dress. I have been impressed with everything Zen has done and will keep using her service as it has been so difficult to find anyone who I can trust with dresses that have cost me so much. She is honest and will tell you if you expect something that cannot be done or will not look how you want it to. I honestly cannot think of anymore you could ask from her !

This passed weekend my husband had his staff awards dinner at the Grosvenor. Since it was a black tie event I had to buy a floor length dress and of course I found mine at last minute which meant I needed last minute tailoring. I recently acquired a beautiful creation with delicate spaghetti straps for a special ball. Since I dress in black the majority of the time, my new brown and beige ensemble was a marked departure in style and one I was somewhat apprehensive about. Although I discovered in the store the straps needed to be altered to spare my blushes, I still went ahead with the purchase. However, a quick Google search for tailors in Sutton one early Monday morning before starting work, fortuitously led me to Zenub’s front door. Her warmth and understanding instantly allayed my fears and left me in no doubt I was in the presence of a professional and a perfectionist. Unsurprisingly, Zenub’s alterations were flawless, resulting in me attending my glamorous event with complete confidence. Despite her talent and achievements, which include working for Catherine Walker’s fashion house, Zenub remains disarmingly modest – a rare and refreshing quality. I recommend her without reservation.
