Horley Wedding Dress Alterations for a Dama Couture Luna Gown
This beautiful Horley bride came to my private Sutton bridal studio following a recommendation from Brides by Aster. She had chosen the elegant Dama Couture Luna wedding dress and wanted its sleek silhouette refined to fit her figure perfectly while feeling secure and comfortable throughout her wedding day. This Horley Wedding Dress Alterations Story was truly a memorable one.
The alterations included taking the gown in by 6 cm through the fitted silhouette, adding a supportive inner corset and creating a ballroom bustle for the train. Once all the alterations were completed, both the wedding dress and its matching bridal scarf were professionally steam-pressed and prepared for the wedding.
Horley Wedding Dress Alterations | The Dama Couture Luna Wedding Dress
The Dama Couture Luna is a striking contemporary wedding dress with a softly draped cowl neckline, structured bodice and beautifully fitted silhouette. Its clean design means that every element of the fit needs to be precise, as there is no lace or embellishment to disguise unevenness in the fabric.
The gown was complemented by a matching bridal neck scarf, creating a modern and sophisticated finish.
Horley Wedding Dress Alterations | Taking the Wedding Dress in by 6 cm
The gown needed to be taken in by approximately 6 cm through the fitted line.
This alteration required careful shaping so that the dress followed the bride’s figure smoothly without pulling, twisting or disturbing the fluid fall of the fabric. The reduction was balanced throughout the gown to preserve the original proportions and maintain the elegant silhouette intended by the designer.
The completed fit sat closely and cleanly across the bodice, waist, hips and skirt while still allowing the bride to move comfortably.
Horley Wedding Dress Alterations | Adding a Supportive Inner Corset
An internal corset was added to provide additional structure and security beneath the gown.
Because the Luna has a clean, minimalist bodice, the support needed to remain completely concealed. The inner corset helped anchor the dress securely at the waist, supported the bust and allowed the draped neckline to sit naturally without changing the appearance of the gown from the outside.
This internal construction gave the bride greater confidence while preserving the soft, effortless look of the original design.
Creating a Ballroom Bustle
A ballroom bustle was added so that the train could be lifted discreetly for the reception.
This style of bustle brings the train underneath the skirt, creating the appearance of a floor-length gown rather than visibly gathering the fabric on the outside. It was particularly suitable for the Luna because it retained the dress’s smooth, streamlined silhouette.
Once secured, the bride could walk and dance more freely while the train remained protected from being stepped on during the evening celebrations.
Steam Pressing the Dress and Bridal Scarf
After the fitting work was completed, the entire wedding dress was professionally steam-pressed to remove creasing and restore the smooth finish of the fabric.
The matching neck scarf was also carefully pressed so that it sat softly and elegantly around the bride’s neckline. Both pieces were prepared together, ensuring that the complete bridal look was ready for the wedding day.
The Finished Wedding-Day Look
The finished photographs show how beautifully the altered gown followed the bride’s figure. The refined fit, hidden corset construction and elegant draped neckline created a clean and sophisticated silhouette from every angle.
