Morgan Davies Bridal Alterations – Yedyna Estia Wedding Dress for a Banstead Bride

A beautifully designed wedding dress deserves equally careful alterations. This exquisite Yedyna Estia wedding dress, purchased from Morgan Davies Bridal in London, was brought to my specialist bridal alterations studio in Sutton by a bride from Banstead who wanted the gown adjusted to fit her perfectly while preserving its intricate beaded lacework and romantic design.
The Estia is a wonderfully feminine gown, featuring delicate long lace sleeves, a scalloped sweetheart neckline, a structured bodice and a flowing A-line skirt extending into an elegant train. The dress is adorned with intricate floral lace and subtle sparkling embellishments, making it especially important that every alteration respects the original design.

For this bride, I carried out several specialist alterations, including shortening the lace wedding dress, contouring the bust and neckline, creating a bespoke lace panel to completely conceal the back zip, and adding a bustle to make the train more manageable during the wedding celebrations.
Morgan Davies Bridal Alterations | Contouring the Bust and Neckline
A beautifully fitted bodice is essential to the overall appearance of a wedding dress, particularly when the neckline and bust are such prominent features of the design.

The Yedyna Estia has a romantic sweetheart neckline edged with delicate scalloped lace, supported by a structured bodice. I carefully contoured the bust and neckline to refine the shape and improve the way the gown sat against the bride’s figure.
Working with a detailed lace bodice requires precision, as adjustments must be carefully integrated without disrupting the surrounding design.
The aim was to create a flattering and comfortable fit while retaining the original shape and delicate character of the gown.
Morgan Davies Bridal Alterations | Bespoke Lace Panel to Conceal the Back Zip Completely
One of the most distinctive alterations I carried out on this Morgan Davies Bridal wedding dress was creating a bespoke lace panel to completely conceal the original back zip closure.
The gown featured such beautiful floral lace that I wanted the back to have an uninterrupted finish, allowing the intricate detailing to remain the focus rather than the zip.

To achieve this, I carefully attached a matching lace panel seamlessly along one side of the back closure, integrating it with the existing lacework.
On the opposite side, I incorporated discreet popper fastenings, allowing the lace panel to be opened easily whenever access to the zip was required.
This meant the original zip remained fully functional while being completely concealed beneath the decorative lace panel when fastened.
The finished result combined practicality with a seamless appearance, allowing the delicate lacework to flow beautifully across the back of the gown.
It is this type of bespoke alteration that I particularly enjoy: finding a solution that improves the appearance of a wedding dress without compromising its function or the designer’s original vision.
Morgan Davies Bridal Alterations | Shortening the Intricate Lace Wedding Dress
Shortening the Yedyna Estia was another important part of the alterations process.
Unlike a plain wedding dress, heavily beaded lace requires careful handling to avoid disturbing the decorative detailing. The ornate scalloped lace border was especially important to the overall appearance of the gown, and maintaining its delicate finish was a priority throughout the alterations. These decorative elements needed particular attention when adjusting the length, as the finished hem is an essential part of the gown’s appearance.

The dress was carefully shortened to suit the bride’s height and achieve a more comfortable walking length while maintaining the beautiful proportions and character of the A-line skirt.
The close-up photographs show the intricacy of the embroidered and beaded lace, demonstrating why specialist bridal alterations require patience, precision and an understanding of delicate couture fabrics.
Adding a Wedding Dress Bustle
The Yedyna Estia has a beautiful flowing train, which creates a romantic silhouette and looks especially lovely in wedding photographs.
However, while a train is wonderful for the ceremony and photographs, it can become less practical during the wedding reception.
To give the bride greater freedom of movement, I added a bustle that would allow the train to be lifted and secured when needed.
The bustle was positioned to accommodate the fullness and drape of the lace skirt while maintaining the gown’s elegant appearance.
This gave the bride the option of enjoying the full beauty of her train for the formal parts of the wedding and lifting it later for easier movement.
From Bridal Fittings in Sutton to the Wedding Day

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing the finished wedding dress being worn on the wedding day.
The bride kindly shared some beautiful professional wedding photographs, and it was a pleasure to see her looking so happy in her Yedyna Estia gown.
The photographs capture the romantic beauty of the dress, from the delicately fitted lace bodice and long sleeves to the flowing skirt and elegant train.

The lovely outdoor photographs also show the back of the gown and its beautiful silhouette, bringing together all the careful work undertaken during the alterations process.

These wedding-day images are a wonderful reminder that bridal alterations are about much more than simply changing the measurements of a dress. They are about making the gown feel comfortable, secure and beautifully fitted while allowing the bride to enjoy her special day.
A Lovely Message from Our Banstead Bride
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is hearing from brides after their wedding day, especially when I have spent so much time carefully perfecting the finer details of their gowns.
After her wedding, this lovely Banstead bride kindly sent me a selection of her professional wedding photograph previews, along with a message that made all the intricate work worthwhile.
In her own words:

“Hey lovely, just wanted to send you some of our previews! My dress was perfect in every way! Thank you again for all your hard work on it.” ❤️
Seeing her looking so happy in her beautifully fitted Yedyna Estia gown was a wonderful moment. From the contoured bust and neckline to the carefully shortened beaded lace skirt, concealed zip panel and bustle, every alteration had been carried out with the aim of making her dress look and feel just right.
Messages like this remind me why I love working with wedding dresses and why the smallest details matter so much.
