Hayes & Pinner Bridal Alterations | WED2B Sofia Cruz Jade Wedding Dress

This Hayes and Pinner bridal alterations story features a WED2B Sofia Cruz Jade wedding dress, carefully fitted at my private studio in Sutton. I took the gown in by four inches and shortened it by four inches, adding bust cups, additional straps and a bustle. I also steamed the bride’s dress, veil and hooped petticoat, alongside the bridesmaids’ dresses and the lehenga outfits for the bride and her two sisters.

Hayes & Pinner Bridal Alterations | Taking the dress in by four inches

I took the dress in by four inches—approximately 10 cm—to bring it closer to the bride’s figure. With a draped bodice, the fit underneath matters just as much as the folds on the surface. The aim was to create a more secure fit while preserving the soft appearance of the neckline and bodice.

Hayes & Pinner Bridal Alterations | Shortening the hem by four inches

The dress also needed shortening by four inches, approximately 10 cm. Altering the hem brought the skirt to a more suitable length for the bride while retaining the fullness that gives this gown its lovely silhouette.

Adding bust cups and additional straps

I added bust cups to improve the shape and support through the bodice, together with additional straps for extra security. These details formed an important part of adapting the dress to the bride, alongside taking it in.

An off-the-shoulder gown needs careful fitting so that the neckline sits comfortably and the bodice feels secure. The alterations were considered together, with attention to both the appearance of the dress and how it felt to wear.

A bustle for the train

To make the train more manageable after the ceremony, I added a bustle. This allows the train to be lifted for walking and dancing, giving the bride a practical way to enjoy her full skirt throughout the celebrations.

Steaming the bridal gown and wedding party outfits

Alongside the alterations, I steamed the bride’s Sofia Cruz Jade wedding dress, veil and hooped petticoat, preparing each piece for the celebrations.

Final professional steam pressed indian lehenga choli

The preparation also extended to the family’s Indian outfits. I steamed the lehengas, cholis and dupattas for the bride and her two sisters, as well as the bridesmaids’ dresses. From the full bridal skirt to the separate pieces of each lehenga ensemble, every garment received individual attention to help it fall beautifully and look fresh for the occasion.

Bridal alterations for brides from Hayes and Pinner

This Sofia Cruz Jade gown is a lovely example of how alterations can personalise the fit of a wedding dress while preserving the design the bride originally chose. Taking it in, adjusting the length, adding cups and straps, and fitting a bustle each played a part in preparing it for her wedding.
