Sofia Cruz Robbie Wedding Dress Alterations for a WED2B Horsham Bride

Nadiya came to my private Sutton bridal studio for Sofia Cruz Bridal Alterations Robbie design from horsham after choosing her beautiful gown from WED2B.
The Robbie is a wonderfully modern wedding dress with a high halterneck, low back and smooth satin sheath silhouette. Although its simplicity looks effortless, the clean fabric and sculpted shape mean every seam and alteration must be completed with exceptional precision.
Nadiya’s dress required considerably more than a straightforward resize. The entire front bodice needed to be reconstructed to lift the neckline, improve the bust shaping and provide the secure internal support she needed. The gown was also taken in by approximately one dress size throughout, shortened, bustled and professionally steam pressed.

Sofia Cruz Bridal Alterations | Restructuring and Lifting the Halterneck
The original halterneck sat lower than Nadiya wanted and did not provide the coverage or support she needed through the front of the dress.
To correct this, I carefully reconstructed the entire front bodice. The neckline was lifted and the front sections were reshaped so that the gown sat higher and more securely against her body.
This was a particularly important alteration because changing the height of a halterneck affects the complete balance of the bodice. The neckline, bust shaping, armholes, waist and side seams all needed to work together without introducing pulling or distortion into the satin.
The finished neckline retained the gown’s elegant contemporary appearance while giving Nadiya a much more comfortable and confident fit.

Sofia Cruz Bridal Alterations | Adding Bridal Cups and Bust Contouring
Bridal cups were added inside the gown to improve the bust shape and create a smoother, more defined silhouette.
The cups were carefully positioned as part of the reconstructed front rather than simply being attached inside the existing bodice. This allowed the outer satin to sit cleanly over the bust without visible ridges or unwanted movement.
The result was subtle internal shaping that complemented the minimalist design of the dress.
Sofia Cruz Bridal Alterations | Creating an Inner Corset for Support

An inner corset was constructed and added to the gown to provide secure support around the waist and bust.
This hidden structure helped hold the dress firmly in position while reducing the amount of pressure placed on the halterneck. It also allowed Nadiya to move comfortably without worrying about the bodice shifting during the wedding day.
Because the Robbie has such a low back, the support had to be carefully designed so that it remained completely concealed within the gown.
Taking the Wedding Dress In by One Size
Nadiya’s dress was taken in by approximately one full dress size throughout the body.
The alterations continued from the bodice through the waist and along the fitted skirt, ensuring that the satin followed her figure smoothly without becoming overly tight.
Plain satin dresses can be among the most technically demanding gowns to alter because every line, join and slight imbalance can be visible. The seams therefore had to be shaped and pressed carefully to preserve the clean, streamlined silhouette of the original design.
Shortening the Satin Hem
The wedding dress was shortened to work with Nadiya’s chosen wedding shoes.
Each section of the hem was measured while she was wearing the correct footwear, allowing the front of the skirt to sit at a comfortable walking length while retaining the graceful flow into the train.
The newly finished hem was carefully pressed to maintain the fluid appearance of the satin.
Adding a Wedding Dress Bustle
A discreet bustle was added so that Nadiya could lift the train after the ceremony.
The bustle allowed the train to be secured neatly while preserving the elegant shape of the fitted skirt. This gave her greater freedom to walk, mingle and dance without having to carry the train throughout the reception.
The fastening was positioned to remain unobtrusive when the train was worn down.
Professional Wedding Dress Steam Pressing
Once every alteration had been completed, Nadiya’s Sofia Cruz wedding dress received a full professional steam press.
Satin needs careful handling because incorrect steaming can leave water marks, impressions or unwanted shine. The dress was gradually steamed and pressed so that the bodice, fitted skirt and train looked smooth and beautifully presented for the wedding day.
Nadiya’s Finished Wedding Look
Seeing Nadiya wearing her finished dress on her wedding day was wonderful.
The raised neckline looked beautifully proportioned, while the reconstructed front, fitted cups and hidden corset gave her the secure support she needed. Taking the dress in throughout created a smooth, elegant silhouette that suited the modern simplicity of the Sofia Cruz Robbie gown.
Her wedding photograph shows just how effortlessly the dress came together as part of her finished bridal look.
