When this beautiful bride travelled from East Croydon to my Sutton bridal alterations studio, she entrusted me with not one, but two very different bridal outfits. Her vision was elegant, modern and effortlessly stylish—a timeless KYHA Studios Miles gown for her destination wedding in Greece, followed by a contemporary Babyboo Asha Mini Dress for her London registry wedding and evening celebrations.
Every wedding dress deserves to fit as though it was made exclusively for its wearer. Although both dresses were beautiful designs, they required expert couture alterations to achieve the flawless fit, support and comfort every bride deserves.
The result was two completely different bridal looks, each perfectly tailored to the bride, allowing her to enjoy every moment of her celebrations with complete confidence.

Couture Bridal Alterations for a KYHA Studios Miles Gown
The KYHA Studios Miles gown is renowned for its architectural corseted bodice, clean minimalist lines and dramatic satin ballgown silhouette. It is a deceptively simple dress that demands exceptional precision during alterations, as every seam contributes to its sculptural shape.
For this bride, my alterations included:
- Adding hidden internal structure to improve support.
- Precision shortening of the full satin skirt.
- Creating a seven-point American bustle for the cathedral-length train.
- Professional couture steaming.
- Carefully packing the gown for safe travel to Greece.
The hidden internal support transformed how the bodice felt, allowing the bride to wear the gown comfortably throughout the day while maintaining the beautifully sculpted silhouette that makes the Miles gown so iconic.
Hidden Couture Structure
Although the clean lines of the KYHA Studios Miles gown appear beautifully simple, much of the craftsmanship lies beneath the outer fabric.
To provide exceptional support without altering the minimalist design, I added hidden internal structure to the bodice. Carefully positioned boning and internal construction created a secure, sculpted fit that allowed the bride to wear the gown comfortably throughout her wedding day.
Luxury bridal alterations are often invisible. The goal is for the bride to feel completely supported while the gown retains the effortless appearance intended by the designer.
The dress was purchased from Halo & Wren Bridal Boutique, and every alteration respected the original craftsmanship while tailoring it precisely to the bride’s proportions.
Precision Hemming Without Losing the Designer’s Proportions
A satin ballgown like this requires far more than simply shortening the hem.
Every alteration had to preserve the balance between the fitted corset and the dramatic fullness of the skirt. Careful measuring ensured the proportions remained exactly as the designer intended while allowing the bride to walk comfortably in her chosen wedding shoes.
The finished gown retained its effortless elegance while fitting her beautifully.
Seven-Point American Bustle
One of the most significant parts of this alteration was creating a seven-point American bustle.
The Miles gown features a substantial satin train which needed to be transformed for the evening celebrations without compromising its elegant appearance.
Each bustle point was individually planned and positioned so that when lifted, the train folded naturally into the skirt while maintaining its volume and balance.
When not bustled, the attachment points remained virtually invisible, preserving the clean minimalist aesthetic of the gown.
Destination Wedding Preparation
As the wedding was taking place in Greece, the gown also required careful preparation for travelling abroad.
Following the final fitting, the dress received a full professional steam before being carefully packed, helping ensure it arrived in excellent condition and ready to wear.
The wedding photographs beautifully demonstrate how well the hidden structure and precise alterations performed throughout the day.

For her London registry wedding and reception, the bride chose the modern Babyboo Asha Mini Dress, styling it with an eye-catching detachable tulle overskirt and sleeves to create a completely different bridal look.
Although minimal in design, the dress required significant internal support to provide the secure fit expected from couture bridalwear.
The alterations included:
- Built-in bust cups.
- Hidden inner corset.
- Additional internal structural support.
- Precision fitting through the bodice.
The result was a mini dress that remained secure and comfortable throughout the celebrations while maintaining its sleek, contemporary silhouette.

The KYHA Studios gown perfectly suited the romantic setting of the Greek wedding, while the Babyboo reception dress created an effortlessly fashionable second look for the London celebrations.
Although completely different styles, both dresses shared one important detail—they were individually fitted to the bride rather than simply altered to standard measurements
