Bridal Alterations Crawley | Edit By Aurora Janey Dress for Marbella
Some wedding dresses rely on intricate lace and embellishment. Others rely entirely on precision, silhouette and flawless fit. This Crawley bridal alterations journey included both a Coast satin UK reception dress and an Edit By Aurora Janey crepe wedding gown created for a destination wedding in Marbella after being highly recommended by a previous bride.
Her beautiful review afterwards meant the world to me:
“I can’t recommend Zen highly enough! I travelled from Crawley to Sutton for my alterations, and she was absolutely worth the journey…”
This bridal alterations journey involved two completely different dresses, each requiring its own couture approach while still feeling beautifully connected across the wedding celebrations.
Edit By Aurora Janey Dress Alterations in Crepe
The main ceremony gown was the Janey dress by Edit By Aurora — a beautifully minimalist crepe wedding dress with Bardot sleeves, draped detailing and a sculpted silhouette.
Minimalist crepe gowns may appear simple, but they are often among the most technically demanding dresses to alter well. Every contour, seam and internal structure becomes visible through both movement and photography.
For this Crawley bridal alterations project, the work included:
Full bodice contouring and reshaping
Waist and hip refinement
Precision hem restructuring
Internal support balancing
Bustle creation
Bardot sleeve positioning adjustments
Couture button alignment
Hand-applied beadwork detailing across the décolleté
The delicate beadwork added soft light and texture to the neckline while preserving the understated elegance of the original design. In golden hour photography, the detailing subtly elevated the entire look without overpowering the clean crepe silhouette.
Couture Structure Beneath a Minimalist Wedding Dress
One of the most important aspects of bridal alterations is often the work that remains invisible. Behind the clean lines of the Edit By Aurora Janey gown was extensive structural refinement to ensure the dress remained balanced, secure and flattering throughout the wedding day.
The internal corsetry, seam balance and fit through the back were all carefully refined so the dress moved naturally while still maintaining its sculpted silhouette.
The final result photographed beautifully from every angle, particularly through the back where the line of the gown remained smooth and uninterrupted.
Coast Satin Reception Dress Alterations
Alongside the main ceremony gown, I also altered the bride’s elegant Coast satin reception and registry dress.
This second bridal look featured a clean satin silhouette with a dramatic oversized bow detail and lower back line. Satin requires a completely different tailoring approach to crepe, as every adjustment reflects light differently and must remain perfectly smooth.
For this dress, I added a glitter insert detail to enhance the neckline while still maintaining the modern minimalist aesthetic.
Alterations included:
Bodice reshaping
Strap refinement
Silhouette balancing
Glitter neckline insert
Structural contouring through the body
The final result complemented the ceremony gown beautifully while giving the bride an entirely different evening look.
Bridesmaid Dress Alterations for a Marbella Wedding
Alongside the bride’s Edit By Aurora Janey gown and Coast reception dress, I also altered the bridesmaid dresses to ensure the entire bridal party felt beautifully balanced for the Marbella celebration.
Destination weddings often require careful consideration not only of fit, but also movement, comfort and how fabrics behave in warm outdoor settings and photography. The soft blue gowns complemented the clean minimalist styling of the wedding beautifully while maintaining an elegant, effortless feel throughout the day.
Bridal Alterations for the Entire Wedding Party
Following her experience, this lovely bride also entrusted me with alterations for her bridesmaid dresses, her mother’s dress and her mother-in-law’s dress.
Being trusted with not only the bride’s gown but also the wider family wardrobe is always deeply meaningful. Bridal alterations are never simply about fitting a dress — they become part of the emotional journey surrounding the wedding itself.
