Essense of Australia Bridal Alterations | Couture Wedding Dress Alterations by an Expert Bridal Alterations Seamstress

Every wedding dress should feel as though it was made specifically for the bride wearing it. Chloe entrusted me with her beautiful Essense of Australia gown, wanting a flawless fit that would allow her to feel secure, comfortable and confident throughout every part of her wedding day. Although the dress already suited her beautifully, achieving that effortless finished look required far more than simply shortening the hem. The gown needed Couture Essense of Australia Alterations including careful structural work, precise strap adjustments and two separate bustle systems to ensure it performed just as beautifully as it looked.
The result was a dress that remained true to the original Essense of Australia design while fitting Chloe perfectly from the first step down the aisle until the final dance.

Couture Essense of Australia Alterations | Understanding Chloe’s Vision

During her first fitting we discussed exactly how she wanted the dress to feel.
She loved the light, romantic silhouette and dramatic illusion back and wanted to preserve every detail of the original design. Most importantly, she wanted complete confidence that the bodice would remain supportive all day without constantly needing adjustment.
Rather than changing the appearance of the gown, my role was to refine the fit and discreetly engineer the internal structure so everything looked effortless from the outside.
Couture Alterations Completed

For Chloe’s Essense of Australia bridal alterations, I carried out:
- Shortened the wedding dress to the perfect length.
- Carefully shortened and adjusted the original beaded shoulder straps to improve both fit and comfort while preserving the designer’s original look.
- Built a hidden inner support structure to provide secure bust support and improve the overall fit of the bodice.
- Created a separate inner French bustle to lift the internal layers.
- Designed an outer one-point American bustle so the train could be elegantly lifted for the evening reception.
- Finished the gown with a professional couture steam press readyz for collection.
These alterations are the kind that often go unnoticed—but they make an enormous difference to how a wedding dress feels, supports the body and photographs throughout the day.
Couture Essense of Australia Alterations | Hidden Support That Makes All the Difference

One of the most important parts of Chloe’s alterations was creating discreet internal support.
Beautiful bridal gowns often rely on delicate fabrics and illusion bodices, but these don’t always provide the level of support needed for a full day of wearing. By incorporating hidden internal structure, the bodice fitted securely while maintaining the light, romantic appearance of the original design.

The carefully adjusted beaded straps also played an important role, sitting comfortably on Chloe’s shoulders and working together with the hidden structure to keep everything perfectly balanced.
The finished result looked completely natural, allowing Chloe to move freely and confidently without compromising the elegance of the gown.
Two Bustles for One Perfect Wedding Day

Like many of my brides, Chloe wanted to enjoy the full beauty of her train during the ceremony while still being able to dance comfortably later in the evening.
To achieve this, I created two separate bustle systems.
The inner French bustle lifted the internal layers discreetly, while the outer one-point American bustle gathered the lace train beautifully without distracting from the gown’s silhouette.
Having separate bustle systems ensured the dress remained balanced, elegant and practical throughout every part of the celebration.
The Importance of a Couture Finish

Once every alteration had been completed, the gown received a full professional steam press.
Steam pressing is an essential final stage that allows every layer of tulle and lace to fall naturally, removes handling creases created during fittings and ensures the dress is presented exactly as it should be on the wedding day.
It’s often this final finishing touch that elevates a beautifully altered gown into one that looks truly couture.
Couture Essense of Australia Alterations | Chloe’s Wedding Day

Seeing Chloe’s wedding photographs was incredibly rewarding.
The gown flowed beautifully, the train draped effortlessly and the bodice remained perfectly supported while maintaining its soft, romantic appearance. The delicate illusion back, elegant beaded straps and flowing skirt all worked together exactly as intended.
Most importantly, Chloe looked completely relaxed and confident—exactly what every bride deserves to feel on her wedding day.

Receiving reviews like this means the world to me. Every wedding dress is treated individually, and my aim is always to create alterations that not only improve the fit but also give each bride complete confidence to enjoy every moment of her wedding day.
