Expert Bridal Alterations for a Hammersmith Bride
This bride travelled from Hammersmith, West London, to my private Sutton, Surrey bridal alterations studio after being recommended by the team at Laura May Bridal in Cardiff for alterations to her Blue by Enzoani wedding dress.
Alongside her Blue by Enzoani gown purchased from Laura May Bridal, she also entrusted me with alterations to her Ronald Joyce wedding dress purchased from All About Eve Bridal.
Although the gowns were completely different in silhouette and style, both required specialist bridal alterations including full size reduction, hidden internal corsetry, crinoline hemming and one-point American bustle creation to achieve the perfect fit for her wedding day.
The result was two beautifully fitted designer gowns that allowed the bride to enjoy two distinct bridal looks throughout her celebrations.
Blue by Enzoani Bridal Alterations – Laura May Bridal Cardiff
The first gown was a dramatic satin Blue by Enzoani Fitted Fishtail purchased from Laura May Bridal in Cardiff.
Having been recommended by the Laura May Bridal team, the bride travelled from Hammersmith to my Sutton studio for specialist bridal alterations designed to improve fit, support and comfort while preserving the elegance of the original gown.
The dress was taken in by one full size and fitted with a hidden internal corset to create a secure, supportive fit through the bodice. Structured satin wedding dresses require particularly precise alterations because every seam and contour remains visible, making careful fitting essential.
The hem required specialist crinoline hemming to maintain the balance and movement of the skirt, while a one-point American bustle was added to allow the train to be lifted comfortably during the celebrations.
The finished result retained the dramatic silhouette and elegance that make Blue by Enzoani gowns so striking while creating a beautifully sculpted fit tailored specifically to the bride.
One of the most rewarding aspects of bridal alterations is seeing a gown progress from the fitting room to the wedding day. The wedding photographs beautifully demonstrate how careful structural fitting can transform the way a dress looks and feels when worn.
Ronald Joyce Bridal Alterations – All About Eve Bridal
Alongside her Blue by Enzoani gown, the bride also brought her Ronald Joyce wedding dress purchased from All About Eve Bridal.
Although this gown featured ballgown silhouette , it required the same level of specialist bridal fitting and structural support.
The Ronald Joyce gown was taken in by one full size and fitted with a hidden internal corset to provide additional support and confidence throughout the wedding day. Careful contouring through the bust and waist ensured the dress fitted beautifully while maintaining the designer’s original proportions.
The hem was shortened and the crinoline horsehair edging reconstructed to maintain the shape and movement of the skirt. A one-point American bustle was also added, allowing the train to be secured neatly later in the day.
Fitted wedding dresses rely heavily on balance and proportion, and careful bridal alterations ensured the gown complemented the bride perfectly while remaining comfortable to wear.
Two Wedding Dresses, One Seamless Bridal Experience
Altering two wedding dresses for the same bride requires more than simply achieving the correct measurements.
Although the Blue by Enzoani ballgown and Ronald Joyce gown were very different in style, both dresses underwent significant structural alterations including internal corsetry, resizing, crinoline hemming and bustle creation.
The aim was to ensure the bride felt equally comfortable, supported and confident in both gowns while preserving the distinctive character of each design.
The result was two completely different bridal looks united by the same level of craftsmanship, fit and attention to detail.

Seeing both gowns worn on the wedding day demonstrates how specialist bridal alterations are about far more than simply making a dress smaller.
Every alteration was carried out to improve comfort, support, movement and confidence while ensuring the gowns looked effortless in photographs and remained comfortable throughout the celebrations.

Seeing the Blue By Enzoani fishtail gown hanging beside the Ronald Joyce satin ballgown perfectly illustrates the contrast between the bride’s two wedding-day looks. One offered sleek contemporary elegance, while the other delivered dramatic bridal volume and presence.
After months of fittings, structural alterations and careful finishing work, both gowns were prepared for their journey back to Hammersmith ready for the wedding celebrations.
