The story behind the design
This morning glory silk scarf was created as a commissioned gift — a husband’s request for his wife’s 50th birthday.
At its heart, the design tells their story.
The design I created after meeting them was of two intertwined hearts moving gently through the composition, symbolising a shared journey — shaped by love, time, and the quiet strength of growing together. Like the morning glory vine, the path is not straight, but full of twists and turns, each one a part of something beautiful.
The flowers themselves represent renewal and hope — a reminder that each day brings a new beginning, no matter what has come before.
Butterflies appear softly within the design, symbolising transformation and happiness — moments of lightness that exist alongside life’s complexities.
Painted slowly onto silk, the piece was allowed to evolve naturally, the movement of the fabric guiding each detail as it came to life.
