From Dress to Art: A Bespoke Silk & Embellishment Creation
This bespoke beaded silk dress transformation began with my client’s favourite silk dress, reimagined into a completely unique, handcrafted piece. It was created entirely from scratch, designed and constructed to the client’s specifications.
It began with something deeply personal — my client’s favourite silk dress.
A client came to me with her favourite floral pure silk dress . She loved it so much and it had history. She wanted me to create a bespoke top by isung the undamaged fabric. I sketched out quite a few ideas . Unfortunately the fabric wasn’t enough to make a full blouse, but we didn’t loose hope.
She selected a rich purple dupion silk to complement the original tones of the floral print of her dress, creating a contrast that would allow the design to evolve into something entirely unique. From there, we developed a bespoke concept — sketched specifically for her — designed to merge structure, texture, and movement.
I actually traced out the outlines of the floral pattern on her fabric, transformed it into an embroidery pattern.

The embroidery was built using an abundance of hand-applied beads which I embroidered in the shape of the floral print, varying colours, sizes, and finishes. Each bead was individually placed to create depth, light, and fluidity across the garment. The result is a surface that shifts and catches light from every angle — almost jewellery in itself.
But we didn’t stop there.
As I also design jewellery, I introduced a structural beaded necklace element that integrates directly into the dress. It was handwoven with the remaining glass beads . This became a defining feature — not just an accessory, but part of the garment’s architecture. It frames the neckline, flows into the back, and connects the entire piece together.
At the back, the design softens into a sculptural bow with three cascading beaded strands, balancing the intensity of the front with movement and elegance.
This was never just about embellishment.
It was about transformation — taking something loved and reimagining it into a completely bespoke, one-of-a-kind piece that could never be replicated.
The result is a bespoke beaded silk dress transformation that combines textile design with jewellery craftsmanship
This approach to bespoke work is also a more considered way of creating — preserving and reimagining garments rather than replacing them. By transforming an existing piece into something entirely new, the process honours both the craftsmanship of the original dress and the value of creating with intention, while carrying forward its emotional history.
A love rekindled.
