Two Designer Wedding Dresses, One Seamless Wedding Day
When this bride travelled from Carshalton to my Sutton, Surrey studio, she brought two exceptional designer wedding dresses purchased from The Wedding Club in Knightsbridge. This Bridal Alterations Knightsbridge journey featured two completely different luxury bridal looks: a Leah Da Gloria Bennet gown for the ceremony and a sparkling Berta Bridal gown for the evening celebrations.
Both dresses required specialist bridal alterations to achieve the perfect fit, balance and comfort for the wedding day. The result was a seamless transition from a timeless silk mikado ballgown to a glamorous embellished reception dress, allowing the bride to enjoy two distinct designer looks throughout her celebrations.

Leah Da Gloria Bennet Wedding Dress Alterations
For the ceremony, the bride chose the stunning Leah Da Gloria Bennet gown, crafted from luxurious Italian silk mikado. Featuring a deep plunge neckline, dramatic full skirt and statement bow detail, the dress offered a striking architectural silhouette while maintaining a timeless bridal aesthetic.
Although she loved the original design, she wanted to personalise the gown and create additional coverage through the arms. The Bennet was originally designed as a sleeveless wedding dress, so together we transformed the look by creating bespoke fitted sleeves that appeared as though they had always been part of the original design.
Adding sleeves to a structured silk mikado wedding dress requires careful planning and precision. The sleeve head, arm movement and balance of the bodice must all work harmoniously with the existing construction to maintain the designer’s intended silhouette. Each sleeve was individually constructed in matching silk mikado and finished with elegant covered buttons at the wrist, creating a timeless couture-inspired detail that complemented the clean lines of the dress beautifully.
The alterations completed included:
- Design, creation and fitting of bespoke silk mikado sleeves
- Traditional set in sleeves construction
- 15 Covered button detailing on each sleeve
- 9 Functional Loop closure Covered Buttons each sleeve
- Neckline snd armhole reshaping
- Detailed bodice contouring and fit refinement
- Wedding dress hemming and length adjustment
- Bustle installation for the train
- Final preparation, pressing and finishing
The finished gown retained the clean architectural elegance of the original Leah Da Gloria design while becoming something uniquely personal to the bride. The bespoke sleeves and couture finishing details transformed the dress into a one-of-a-kind bridal look that reflected her individual style while remaining true to the designer’s vision.
Berta Bridal Evening Dress Alterations
For the evening celebrations, the bride changed into a spectacular Berta Bridal gown.
Covered in intricate embellishment and sparkle, the fitted silhouette provided a dramatic contrast to the structured simplicity of the Leah Da Gloria ceremony dress. The combination of two luxury designer gowns allowed the bride to enjoy two completely different bridal looks throughout her wedding day.

The Berta gown also required specialist alterations to achieve the perfect fit. The dress was taken in by approximately two inches throughout and carefully adjusted through the bodice, waist and hips to create a secure, flattering silhouette while preserving the original design and heavily embellished detailing.
Particular attention was paid to the bust area, where detailed cup contouring and shaping were carried out to create smooth support and enhance the overall fit. This type of structural bridal alteration is often overlooked but can make a remarkable difference to both comfort and confidence on the wedding day.
From Ceremony Gown to Reception Dress
